Are Triceps Attractive?

Let's get right to the point: If you're a jerk, it doesn't matter if you look like a Greek god. Even though douchey men might be a woman's first choice for a one-night stand, they're not what women want in a long-term partner (hey, researchers proved it), so don't take this as an excuse to stop working on your personality and just be a good person.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, there are some things about a man's body that make a woman take notice. Even if you don't look like Adonis, it doesn't hurt to have good listening skills, be curious, and pay close attention to details. Think of yourself as a dinner plate. You might taste good (i.e., be polite and have a good personality), but if you look bad, no one will want to eat off of you. You eat first with your eyes.

Here is a list, in no particular order, of the things that women like about men. These aren't just body parts, but things about men in general that women like. Some of these are easy to see, but others might surprise you. In any case, science has shown that all of these things are irresistible to women, so get your notebook out now. They also found that women who are more attractive tend to have higher standards for what makes a man physically attractive. For example, they want their partners to have muscles that are "more developed," but not necessarily bigger. In other words, they want men who have a little bit more muscle and a lot less fat than the average person.

They found that women were most interested in hard-to-build muscles, like the abs and biceps. Women found it interesting that the muscles they liked best were the glutes, biceps, abs, pecs, shoulders, obliques, triceps, and quads, in that order.

Still, none of these muscles seemed to ruin the attractiveness of the guy. Even though the women in this study had slight preferences for certain muscles, it was the whole package—a well-developed upper and lower body with low body fat—that made them swoon.

Now, you might meet women who say they like "skinny guys," but just like men, what they say they want isn't always what they want. In a study where women didn't know who the men were, almost all of them said they liked stronger, leaner, more muscular men over weaker, fatter, less muscular men.

For example, in a study done by scientists at California State University, 160 women in their late teens and early 20s were shown shirtless pictures of men the same age as them. Some of the men had been found in college gyms, and others had been found in psychology classes.
